What's good ya'll?  I know as always I've been loafin on updating this blog, but this time I'm serious: I WILL KEEP YA'LL POSTED. Anyway, I got some good news for ya'll. I've decided to release a series of freestyles just for you, the wonderful fans. This series is entitled "52 PICK UP". This means for the next calender year, I will drop a new freestyle every week (52), and you can download them for free (pick up). Get it? Well anyway, the first 3 freestyles are already available now on my MySpace, as well as on my soundcloud. You can check them out, let me know what you think, and even suggest what tracks you wanna hear me spit over. Also, for those of you with facebook accounts, you can become a Sock the Rapper fan by clicking HERE. One of my freestyles, "A Million and One Questions", originally done by Jay-Z, was featured on DJ Touchtone's Top Ten Mixtape Vol. 3, available for download HERE.

THIS IS AN UPDATE!

What's good ya'll? I know I've been on hiatus lately, I do apologize for the lack of updates. Things have been moving pretty fast for me, so I haven't had the time to keep up with my blog. However, I haven't stopped working to make this music for you. My next EP, "The Struggle" has been pushed back to January, but the delay will be well worth it, as we've got a lot of big things planned for the release.
I also have a few shows coming up, one being this Friday, October 31st, at the African American Art Museum. I will be joining Columbia Records Artist Selina Carrera and others for the "Put Down the Guns, Pick Up a Mic" event. It's a really positive event and I'm honored to be a part of anything that helps to positively impact the community. I also know that's Halloween night, so I'm sure ya'll got your costumes and liquor on deck already. But before you tear up the streets, come support the community and good art. Doors open @ 7pm, and tickets for the show are only $5 in advance.
And since I've been loafin so hard on ya'll, I present to you a new freestyle, "A Million". That's it playing up top, and you can download it free HERE. Enjoy, and stay tuned for more updates. Deuces!!

SOCK LOVE DA KIDSSS!!!

Tomorrow, evening, I will be performing live at Arbol Cafe (209 Poplar St) in Philly along side my home girl Selina Carrera at "THE GOOD IN MY LAND" benefit event. This event was put together by Centro Nueva Creacion, and is a celebration of Latino Heritage month. It is also a fundraiser to help purchase audio/visual equipment for the children of the GOODLANDS. There will also be live painting, and photography by the children themselves. This event is sponsored by 215 Magazine and Pedestrian Boutique. Tix are $10 at the door.

On a real note, please come out and support these kids. I know a lot is wrong with this country and this world right now, and the best way to combat that is to invest in our kids, who will one day lead this nation and make the decisions that affect us all. This is definitely for a good cause and I'm honored to be part of anything that involves educating and supporting our youth. Make sure ya'll show love and come support tomorrow night. The show runs from 6pm-9pm, and again is located at ARBOL CAFE @ 209 POPLAR ST. Deuces!!

I WAS BUILT FOR THIS

Last week was one of the most hectic weeks of my young life. Two concerts, opening for two great artists, both of whom I am fans of and have a lot of respect for (Wale and of course NAS!!!). Man, what a rush! You never know how your gonna react til your thrown in the fire. And I think I came out colder than before. What does that mean? Well first, I'm more confident than ever in myself and my ability. I also am closer to God now. See, I think it was in His will that I became more confident and more humble simultaneously.

How did this come about? Well for starters, obviously, the confidence came from performing. I had the time of my life on the stage, and its a feeling I very well may be addicted to. Even though some people boo'd at the Nas concert, there were still others that appreciated my performance and my music, and one person rocking with me does more to boost my confidence than 100 people hating on me can do to drop it.

The humility also came from performing, ironically. God humbled me and taught me to appreciate the blessings and opportunities He has bestowed upon me, not just in music, but in life in general. My ipod was stolen after the performance. Anybody who knows me knows how much my music meant to me. And yet, despite losing it all (by all, i mean my music), I still managed to find me, as well as motivation to make me better.

My manager/roommate/brother from another Dom read me a text his sister and mother sent him, with a quote that read, "If who you are is what you have, and what you have is lost, than who are you?"

I know who I am: SOCK THE RAPPER! AND I WAS BUILT FOR THIS!
